How to customize a header

1. Click on the header you would like to customize
   
2. In the new window/tab right-click on the header image and save to your hard drive
   
3. Open your editing program (PhotoShop, Paint Shop Pro, etc.) and load the header you just saved
   
4. Add your desired text, elements, etc and save to your hard drive. Remember if it has a transparent background to save as a PNG
5. If you don't already have one, set up an account at a free image hosting site (PhotoBucket, ImageShack, TinyPic, etc) and upload your new customized header
6. Grab the URL address of the header and copy it
   
7. Go to your Blogger Dashboard>Layout>Edit HTML
   
8. Find the section that says /*Header
   
9. Under that you will see this code: background: url(URL of your header)
   
10. In the parentheses where it says 'URL of your header', paste the URL you just copied into that section (it will have the URL for the header that comes with the template)
    
11. Check that it looks okay by clicking on Preview
12. If all looks good, then click Save & your done!
